I am using the song Time from Pink Floyd with one puppet.  My puppet will lip sync song Time.  The puppet is a rod puppet.  I am still going nuts trying to find the right props for the song.  What can I use?  Clocks, bells, calendars, or what?  I'll be doing two things at the same time. 

That is an interesting song, never heard it before. Generally I would try to start slow and add interest growing to some clever finale,keep them guessing, save the best for last.  This song has a lot of movement, it made me think of a fella in a race for his life and sign posts and things passing him by.  Is there any way you could project a background scene moving to imply your puppet was moving down the road of life. Do you have anyone to help you with props, it is tough doing a puppet well with very many props.  You could have props set up on a wheel so that you turned it with your off hand, that could handle at least 4 props.  Do you have a prop rack on your stage to hold up props? Later in the song it sounds like he says the Sun is chasing him.  Maybe he could be chasing the sun but falling more behind until it laps him and comes up behind him.  Is this classy or comical theme?  

One more thing, if you use bells take the metal clapper out or pad it with something soft.  The sound of the bell is on the recording so you don't need it to ring at the wrong time. I head what sounded like a heart beat toward the start, and I saw in my head a heart prop that pulsed there.  Good luck sounds like you have a lot of interesting choices, make sure you choose the amount you can handle well.  Too many props done bad is not as good as a few good props done well.

Snail, I am doing this puppet show alone and with everyone seeing me.  No puppet stage.  Just dressed in black.  This is why this puppet show of mine is hard one.  You asked if I am doing this as a classy or comic theme.  Somewhat comical. 

Audience will be a lot more forgiving if it is comical so you can try more things. How about signs that you can turn around as you walk by that are already free standing.  It could be a two sided sign or prop, with two different messages.  Some could be layers so that you could pull off one layer to reveal another layer.  It would be more interesting to use several different methods instead of all the same.  The key is making it easy enough for you to reveal without taking away from your puppeteering.  For the free standing signs I used to use a small bucket of cement that had a PVC pipe about a foot high embedded in the middle.  Then using a slighlty smaller diameter PCV pipe for your sign or prop you can insert the smaller pipe into the larger and it will be free standing. You could paint it all black.  Or sometimes in a pinch I filled the bucket with bags fille with beans or pebbles instead of cement.  Home Depo had some great little buckets with handles in the paint department, the handles really helped to move them.  sometimes I just used large coffee cans too.
