So this project was inspired by the Camouflaged Swamp creature episode of the Creature Shop challenge. Initially I was going to make a plant disguised creature but opted against it for a few reasons. Mainly because I live in a decently nice 3 bedroom apartment but no where in there is a swamp set...
...so instead I decided to focus on the root of the challenge and that was a creature that hid in plain sight. The only environment I had to have a creature hide in was...my work space.

I love how this guy turned out. He is so simple and yet can convey a lot of emotion. See if you can find him haha~!

Nope~

He is so simple. Literally just a basic eye mech glued into folded fabric. What makes him so awesome tho is your hand mostly fits into his brow and since it is just fabric you can make so many facial expression. With your thumb you can make his eyes look left and right. The third photo I had him staring at the doorway and I forgot I had set him that way and it freaked me out when I walked by the room haha. I don't know why but I love him haha~

Heh, would never have guessed that. I guess I was too busy thinking it wasn't set on an angle.

I didn't figure it out either. Some time simple is the best. I really think that is what hurt many of the contestants. They tried to make the challenge way to complicated. Some of the things that got the most praise where the simplest things like the wings on the black light challenge.

Looked right over that, looks great!  How did you do the eye mech?  Almost makes me want to tackle a similiar challenge

If you saw the episode with the camo swamp creatures I sort of did what Russel did to his creature. If not I threw this together real fast haha~





I used a piece of wire coat hanger for the frame and just skewered my eyes onto it. Then with some other wire I had around I made loops and stabbed as perfectly centered as I could into the back. Since I the bulk of my hand was going to be in the brow I put a hole in the fabric that I could slide my thumb down into to operate the eyes. So in place of the back control bar type thing I used pipe cleaners to make a loop my thumb could slide right into.
