I posted this in the evnts section but did not recieve much response Posted by boostergold on May 29, 2014
Good Morning

I know every one is busy with projects and there own stuff but I need some help. I have managed to get three teams so far but they all are from Britain and for this to work I need people from other countries as well lol. I am going to tell the whole story now just take out names.

We where planning a big tour at the end of august of Orphanages for children in rural areas who have been effected by HIV and for children and mothers in protective shelters. We have had a working relationship with a local church borrowing there equipment and all was going great untill the church team decided that we could not use there stuff anymore as it was too confusing which two teams using the same puppets. (real reason people where requesting us and not them) I do not want to cancel the tour so rather than come here begging for sponsors and donations I came upon the idea of The big ball of Fluff dinner where we charge for tickets and provide a nice dinner with entertainment now I have my team including a vent who is 13 and brilliant made it through to South africas got talent semi final.. But I want to have something super special for the people who support us. So my idea is to run the event like a telethon and have puppet teams from all over the world do little skits that I show on a cinema screen (full size lol)  They basically can do what ever they want as long as the mention doing it for the dinner. I all ready have a very talented presenter who is filming his bits in the Uk for me. But I need everyone as many people as possible to jump on board with this. I cant pay wish I could but if anyone out there feels this is something they could do email me on . I know If I read this I would think are we good enough well if you are a puppeteer or a builder and your heart is in it then you are good enough please help

I wonder if the concept is a bit to vague and confusing folks? Since your doing this like a telethon, perhaps if you gave a simple format that they could use.  You mention builders, but they often don't perform the puppets they build, but would it work for them to do a short clip that says something like "Hey puppet builder (insert name) from (insert location) here, and I just wanted to show my support for (insert name of your team).".  That probably needs some fleshing out and even puppets themselves could use something similar.  I think sometimes folks need a bit more direction.

Yeah, it is a bit too open ended.  You can do whatever you want as long as you mention the dinner?  The concept is great, but there needs to be more direction.  How long should the video be?  How many puppets would you like to see?  In your other post, you mentioned a skit.  Would a general greeting and asking for support suffice?

Ahhh that explains a lot I kinda get excited lol. Sorry basically with the telethon idea or the ones I remember we had in the uk all those years ago (we don't have them in south Africa) the host would say something like lets go across to London and see what's happing there. So I would do the same we have a huge projector screen so would then play the video there so the teams helping can do a song or a skit. I am looking for about 3 to 5 minutes per skit. I am thinking that we can have one puppet record a few lines that I then lead so it looks like he is answering my questions like a live feed then they introduce there skit and mention the dinner so it does not look like I just stole all your work which would suck. I am very wary to offer to write scripts because yes I can script my lot and its but everyone has there own style Look I am new to this so any advice I will happily take...

I will also be performing something new which at rehearsal last night looked amazing I just need to figure out how to make a perfectly round ball of foam the things we do I will of course have videos of the dinner and put them up here as well but thanks for the support and help in advance guys and girls
