Whew... Finally done Posted by ArthurS on Jun 25, 2014
Wow, I've been gone a while!  Missed ya!  PUPPETCOrN was awesome!  Low attendance, but the classes were awesome and I have some things in the works from stuff I learned.  After that I took a break from puppets to build something crazy for my wife and I for vacation.  Take a look:

http://arthurfyrd.wix.com/ballanwodemanor

I also had created a cosplay costume of the Marvel villain 'Rhino' (the real one, not the one in the new movie) and entered it in a local sci-fi con and won best sci-fy/fantasy.  But that was with a sculpted/cast head and a stuffed and latex coated shirt for a body.  I'm now going to cast a full poly foam body suit for it!

Now we are home from vacation and the puppet madness begins again!  I have one commission paid, a bid out for a new puppet ministry group who wants several, a convention this weekend (very small - expected sales are zero) and two large conventions coming soon.  So starts puppet building madness!  Not including the ministry bid, I need a dragon, a llama, and a bunch of monsters (Freddy, Jason, M.Myers, Frankenstein, zombies, vampires, werewolves, etc).  I'm going to try a couple different techniques.  Some will be using a different patterning technique a guy from Sesame Street Workshop showed us at PUPPETCOrN and some will be fully sculpted/molded/cast latex or Poly Foam.  Oh, and don't forget the body cast/sculpt/mold/cast of the Rhino body suit.

Think I'll be busy enough? lol  GOOD!  Our plumbing broke, ruined a floor, leaked on our furnace/AC and ruined it and we already spent ourselves into a hole on the trailer.  So I NEED PUPPET SALES!!! lol

Anyhow, I'm back.  Hope to have pictures soon, maybe another tutorial and am here to help with any meager advice I can give.

Blessings!

So cool to see the process you went through for Ballenwood Manor.  I had seen some pics of the end result over at FB but love seeing what it took to get there!

Glad to have your back!

Say those windows could double as puppet stages too.  Nice job, thanks for sharing.

That manor is so very amazing - what a lot of work, but totally worth it. I may have missed it as I skimmed the page, but how do you deal with fire-proofing? Or is it a matter of having a hydrant at the standby?

What a HUGE project. Congrats to you both. Amazing

Holy cow, I'm impressed when I manage to pull a half-decent sandwich together, never mind a beautiful looking, customised trailer! Hats most definitely off to you good sir!

Thanks all!
Snail - If you or anyone are familiar with David Herzog, He told me it needed to be a puppet-free zone.  the wife agreed.  So yes, I took a picture with two of the 'playing' in the double window. lol

Na - Fireproofing is kind of like its insulation.  Its an upgrade from a canvas tent.  So the only consideration on those are that its inherently better than the canvas!  Many people build these 'tiny homes' to actually live in.  In that case yes, I would add both those plus plumbing, heat/ac, electric, etc.  But for a week of camping?  Still beats a tent as-is!

Ok - I'd personally be freaking out over fire problems, but I think that's mostly because I'd know who built it and how likely I am to screw up.

Really cool though, makes me wish I could go out and build myself a puppet caravan.
