Recycled Pringles Tube Puppet Posted by kirstycrrr on Aug 08, 2014
I recently finished a pringles tube puppet.

I knitted the body - basically a sock with a giant button hole and an extra flap for the underbite.

cut a wedge shape out of one side of the pringles tube, glued half moon cardboard x2 to oval shape foam and covered with felt a la project puppet, and glued this onto the cut pringles tube

fit the sock over the tube and glued in place

Very cute.  What did you do for the mouth plate/hinge?

I think the hinge is just the foam and felt. Would really all that would be needed for something like this.

Very cute! These would be great projects for the school room.

Exactly what I was thinking (schools).  I was asked to do 2 days at a summer school this month, though I think the rep has flaked out on me.  I have seen these and bought Pringles, but have never seen them being made.  And with getting ready for the convention,. I haven't had a chance to play with them

I like this idea for kids as well. Since I am the puppet director at church the kids in my Sunday school class love puppets. I wonder how they were influenced.

Nicely done!

Neat idea! I've never seen anything like that before. Is it difficult to use? I have eaten Pringles enough times to know it's hard to get one's hand into the bottom of the can...

That's really cool. You could do a whole series of this style and do some great stuff. Well done.

Would be super easy to do for a school project. You could just use a regular sock wihout having to knit anyhig special - that was  the bit that took ages.

It is the foam that makes the hinge. And its easy to use as ling as your hand can fit in a Pringles tube. I can only flap my fingers up and down though, my thumb isn't required as the tube is snug in my hand. Also there's not much room for side to side movement again becaude of the tube restrictions, but apart from that the top bit of the head moves wonderfully!
