Frankenstein: The Puppet Opera Posted by Chris Arveson on Aug 17, 2014
I haven't even lurked here for far too long. There has been no opportunity for me to be involved with puppetry for about four years, and who knows when I'll be able to get back to it. Missing it terribly.

At any rate, puppets and P&S still live in my heart, and I was just kind of surfing around when I found this crowdfunding project on Kickstarter"

Frankenstein: The Puppet Opera

I did a search here to see if it has been mentioned before, and nothing turned up, so please forgive me if this is old news.

I really like the idea of this project. I wish I could help them out, and also wish I still lived in Ohio to be some small part of the project. This is what I love the most, live puppetry. It looks like quite the production, I wish I could see the finished product.

Wow, this does seem like an incredible project. I really like the idea of theirs to pick up a classic novel like Shelley's Frankenstein and making it into a puppet opera. Thank you so much Chris for sharing this with us. Really this seems like a brilliant idea and I can't wait to see how it will pan out. By sharing this project, you are helping them as we can all do this as well. Great find!

Thanks SHould, when I saw it, it just struck me. This is exactly the kind of thing that I would like to be involved in. Bringing so many things together that you wouldn't normally think of. Frankenstein fits puppetry pretty well, but opera? They really are doing it in a big way, and I love that kind of ambition.

Welcome Chris. Yes, it is always good to try to see old stories under a new light and puppetry really permits to create incredibly new things by toning it down with puppets and at the same time doing something completely unique. I do hope that you will keep this post updated often for all to be aware of as the changes will go.

NorwichPuppetTheater's posts about their successful Kickstarter campaign sent me back to Kickstarter to see how the Frankenstein: the Puppet Opera campaign went.

This report is only a month late, but I'm pleased to say that they reached their $6,000 goal and exceeded it by $269.

The show is up and running if you can make it to Canton, Ohio.
