Yes it is. However, I am very sick at the moment and if you're happy to wait a week, I'd appreciate it. Currently having a real hard time with asthma so it's hard to do anything but lie in bed. Hoping that by next week all will be back to normal.

Thanks. Am 95% better now - an infection got to me early last week, and for the most part it's gone but it majorly set off my asthma so I just need to chill till that gets better. I'm back to moving around, but it's tricky because moving sets off some coughing.

Creativesoultv, my first book recommendation would be Puppets and Puppet Theatre by David Currell, which covers basic info about different types of puppets, staging, lighting, etc. It has lots of pics and makes for a good reference no matter what style you're into.

I would also recommend Hansjurgen Fettig's rod puppet book (hope I'm remembering his name right, too lazy to look it up), which is extremely rare but a goldmine on facial design, mechanical construction and others things.

The rest of my recommendations would depend on what you're into.  Many of the books above are good but not great - the ones written in the 50s for kid's shows - but mostly they're just ones I won't personally use anymore. A couple of them were bought because I'd heard good things about the authors, but mostly they were bought because I flipped through and they touched on things I hadn't read before.

My current bookshelf consists of the 2 recommendations above; a couple of books on shadow puppets; a copy of photos from a festival I went to; one on model theatres; one on making miniature books; 2 on japanese theatre (bunraku); one on water puppetry (a rare book); one on automata (see below); and some workshop notes. As you can see, these are books I'd recommend but only to those similarly intrigued by certain areas of puppetry. The automata book is probably the only one I'd really recommend for generic use because it covers a lot of stuff that could be used for complex mechanisms, like using shafts, cranks, cogs, levers, etc.

I did/do have book reviews on schoolofpuppetry.com, if  you go there and follow the instructions to obtain the archives. If you're going for muppet-type stuff, which is what most are interested in, my fav is the Foam Book, which a lot of people use too.
