Love him! you did a great job! What type fixative do you use. In the Verna Finely video she uses wax paper and irons the fabric that is colored. The wax paper seals any shading on the face hands or feet of your puppet.

Great looking puppet. I really like the use of the chalk, this is something I would like to try... Any tips? Also the head shape is really good.

Thank you everyone, for the encouragement, advice, and kind words. I am very happy with how he turned out and was rather proud to show him off at the convention.

The holiday interrupted progress a bit but I will get back to him this week.  Definitely addressing hands, adding a rod of some sort, still debating teeth, whiskers, more coloring on his face, and eyebrows.

The chalk is just artists' pastels.  I have an inexpensive set from Michaels. Since I had made one foam head that I decided was too small, I used that as a practice head so I just stretched and pinned some scrap fleece to test the colors. It goes on quite easily and using a circular motion while "coloring" yielded a well blended, smooth covering. There was minimal "pilling" of the soft fleece pile, the more visible of which I just plucked or cut off, but for the most part that was unnecessary. The color has stood up fine through a weekend at Comicon, time on the road, and some demonstrations for friends and family, without any protection, but I still plan on spraying him with a light coat of Prismacolor Matte Fixitive.

I know what you mean about the holidays because I'm way behind on my puppet building projects. I'm sure his sidekick will be just as awesome as the star puppet character!
