Puppet Pelts- Dyed Antron for sale Posted by yalaurie on Nov 19, 2014
Howdy folks,
Just wanted to share my site. I've been selling dyed antron out of my shop (Dewey Street) and finally made a webpage just for it. Hopefully it will streamline the process.

Thanks!

Love the site! It's very simple, clean-looking, fun. The photos are fanta-bulous!

There are a few minor things you could do though:
1. Make yourself a favicon. This is a little icon that appears in the top of the browser. See http://favicon.htmlkit.com/favicon/
2. I have a screen resolution of 1366 x 768. On my computer, the page actually is too wide and there's a horizontal scroll bar appearing. You should also consider doing mobile/tablet layouts - a lot of people are now purchasing via mobile and if the site doesn't seem accessible via that platform they'll just leave.
3. You might want to explain what antron is and why people should buy it. A lot of new people to puppetry hear the term, but don't necessarily understand what it is or why it's so well-loved.
4. Consider hosting your own shopping cart or embedding Etsy. I found with my site, my sales increased once I sold through my site (using E-junkie.com, basically a better version of paypal buttons). Adding an extra button to click means one more step you're putting customers through just to buy.
5. Put some terms and conditions somewhere on your site. That's the first thing I look for when buying online.
6. While I love the humour in the copyright notice, you might want to actually add in your name or whoever owns the copyright. You wouldn't believe how many people steal content and images so making your copyright notice clear goes a long way in defending your rights later on if you need to. All you have to do is turn the copyright stuff into two sentences.
7. Consider renaming the 'antron fleece' and 'shop'. It makes it sound like you can either shop for antron, or shop for other stuff. When I saw it I thought "what's the difference?" and then got confused as to what I was clicking on. Best to make the menu as clear as possible as to where it leads. You could rename 'antron fleece' to something like "about our antron", which would match the content of the page as well as making it clear that the 'shop' link is where you go to buy stuff.

Those are really all minor things, because actually, that's probably one of the best puppetry sites I've seen... and I've seen a lot. I want to eat those photos of the fleece, they're so gorgeous

thanks for the suggestions!

Hope it helps. Don't forget to add your website to your signature here, it will probably increase the number of hits to your site.

I finally got around to making some changes. My Favicon doesn't work yet, but that is a project for tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions Na.

And I finally got around to replying...

Site looks good. I like the favicon! It's really cute. The menu titles are clear and much better than what you had before. The dye process page is a fantastic idea, especially as it's so clear and step-by-step. Same with the 101 page. You might want to embed an Etsy widget onto your shop page so that people can see what's instore without leaving your site. My only criticism now is that the home page still horizontally exceeds the width of my browser. Mine is set to 1366 x 768.

Thanks for the feedback! I am testing out linking my Etsy shop into the site. I am not sure I like it, but I am going to see if it makes it easier or more difficult for people to purchase things.
