I searched and didn't see this film mentioned anywhere on the forum. "I Know That Voice" is a lot of voice actors talking about voice acting - a bit about how to do it, what it's like in the industry, and what they love about what they do. I thought it was very inspiring, also helpful in regard to building characters for puppets.

Never watched it before but bet it would be a great resource for puppeteers wanting to build a repertoire of voices.

Pretty sure it's still streaming on Netflix, so if you have that, I would suggest watching it there. I thought it was okay, but not something I would pay for.

I watched the show today. I really enjoyed it. I read all the negative reviews on Amazon to see what folks didn't like, and I don't share their negative reactions at all. It is divided into general topics with the various actors talking about their experiences within those topics, like the business aspect of the work, the celebrity aspect, etc.

I learned a lot from it, but what I especially learned was that I wish I had been doing that. Now that my hearing isn't what it used to be (can't hear some of the finer tonal distinctions), and my voice has aged and lost flexibility, I wouldn't be able to do it as well as when I was young. Then, too, there was no Cartoon Network, and no video games when I was young, so there weren't anywhere near the opportunities available then as there are now. Also, I didn't know, then, that I would enjoy doing such things.

One of my high school classmates has a talent agency in the Seattle area, and a number of her clients are voice actors. It sure looks like fun.

Although I had heard of comic con before (I'm not into the whole cartoon/comic book/video game fandom thing), so the bits of the film from comic con was interesting, to say the least. I did once stumble into Anthrocon, the furry convention that takes place in Pittsburgh each year, in 2011. Having never heard of furries before, we were somewhat startled to see these characters walking around the streets, so we found a parking place and joined the crowd for the evening.

At any rate, I've been interested in voices for a long, long time. I'm an old time radio fan which is all voice acting. I did a one minute daily spot on the radio for a year for two churches, and loved doing that. This documentary was about voices and the people who did them, and I was fascinated.

Chris, I thought the documentary was very interesting after watching it on Netflix's yesterday. I'm glad I found out about the documentary and learned something that may help me with my voices for puppets in the future.

Good watch!  Love how the voices of Hank Azaria are just bad impersonations.
