Looking for photos of puppets inspired by Kermit Posted by Andrew on Mar 04, 2015
We're producing a video tribute to Kermit the Frog and the influence the Muppets have had on puppetry and we need your help! If you've ever made an original "Kermit-like" puppet (a hand and rod puppet with a flexible head and/or similar shape...anything made with Project Puppet's "Simple Series" patterns for example) and would like your puppet included, just send us a photo of it in a pose that matches this photo (more or less).

Photos can be sent to . Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Not sure if I should stir the pot... but here goes. My question is, aren't you a staunch advocate of avoiding copyright infringement and how are you tackling it in the video (if at all)?

Oh that's not stirring the pot Na, to be clear...when I say "Kermit inspired" I mean hand and rod puppets with a flexible head like Kermit's. Anything made with a "Simple Series" pattern from Project Puppet, for example, fits that definition. Those types of puppets actually pre-date the Muppets, you can find variations on them going a few decades before, but the Muppets obviously popularized and perfected them. I don't mean Kermit replicas or puppets that are completely derivative or knock-offs.

The video is really about the design theory behind puppets like that, or at least my take on it. I wanted to show how Kermit and the "classic Muppet look" (for lack of a better term) has influenced puppet design. I'm building several puppets for the video, but I wanted to have a collage of real world examples made by other people.

Ok right I get you now. Wasn't really all that clear from your OP. Interestingly just the other day I was discussing with someone the Whatnots and the 'interchangeable' style of Muppet facial features. Good luck with the video, it sounds like it'll be a good one to watch.
