That's a shame about the copyright thing. I think this is a wonderful idea.

I know... it really bummed us out because our biggest hope was that the original posters would get a kick out of it.

The Youtuber who "songify's" all these videos (including HER'S) not only makes all the youtube money...but also sells them on Itunes... not sure how that works...but hes made quite a business out of it...

If you don't use the original audio, and re-dub it with the puppet voices, shouldn't that count as satire and be legal?

Absolutely... it just sort of defeats the purpose for us though... there are certain nuances in the audio of those videos that just could never be recreated properly...and maintain the humor....

That's a bit sad...I do suspect that it is googtube that is being difficult, more than the owners of the original videos. The Googbots are getting really picky these days and they have pulled us up several times for music which we got from Creative Commons sites, which was all legal. I have disputed several claims and not had any comeback, but it is annoying that bots that don't think further than their programming force humans to waste time disputing dumb claims. What you can do to continue your idea is contact the owners of the vids privately first, explain that it will help their cause and help get more views of their original, and get their permission beforehand. Then any disputes are solid in your favor.

Yeah... Ive had issues with the bots on some other projects years ago... this one was labeled a bit differently...and seemed a bit more personal... We actually have reached out to contact not only her but others... but they do not respond... They've gotten their tidbit of fame...made some money off of it... and seem to have no use for commentors...emailers....and youtube notifications in general... which i guess i kinda understand... they probably got a few million email notifications over the years....

But yeah... It would probably be easier to reach a REAL celebrity...atleast they have people who handle stuff...

It's okay tho... the project was a distraction from our real Web Series... So ...IT'S BACK TO WORK ON THAT!
