Puppet on wheels Posted by Numensland on Nov 26, 2015
Hi! I am Puppeteer and Art therapist. Let's say shortly Puppets save my mind, if it is not my life! And in return, I try to do the same and spread the «puppet magic» around me. Beside their own professional shows, my puppets work with disabled people and elders. I look forward to share other experiences on this forum! Thanks to Puppets and Stuff: your forum is a splendid idea!

Welcome!  Art Therapy is what I should have gone to school for.  Good for you!

Hi guys! Thanks for your welcome messages and answers. To reply Chris question, lets say I work particularly on the «puppet spirit», using the puppet example with the participants to make them work with their «disabilities», using them as tools and strengths. In practice, I intend to develop more particularly a freestanding-tabletop puppet, that can be manipulated with one hand, like the one you can see on that picture: Message Imagehttps://www.facebook.com/1446833628889783/photos/pb.1446833628889783.-2207520000.1448732355./1543514679221677/?type=3&theater
Thats also why I am always looking for improving new mechanisms and controls, like the puppets examples I posted in my first message:
I have the project to develop a table-top rod puppet, that may be manipulated by a person in a wheelchair… Well, big challenge, but your ideas and help are all welcome!

Wow, that little puppet moved large objects and turned pages of a book, that is quite remarkable.  Those must be some big gauge wires. Older people love puppets, maybe more than children do.  Do you get paid for having so much fun?

Hej Snail! Indeed, about this puppet on the video, it is quite remarkable, but I have no idea how I could built it yet. I guess it is a mix of rod, string and wires, manipulated from behind, instead of been moved from above, as we can see with traditional string puppet (or marionette). To answer your question: yes, I get paid for the workshops I provide, but it is al lot of P.R. and preparation. For now I just move to Sweden, so I have to build again all my network and so on. But I used to travel to give such workshops too. It isn't big money, so I have to work aside too on my own puppet project shows. Hope I answered your question! Regards.
