Hello I am a first time newbie... Posted by caseybright on Nov 28, 2015
Hi all
I am not a puppeteer and I do not have a business but I have acquired a couple of puppets male and female that remind me of tall (and heavy) Jigger dolls. They are about 2ft tall, made of wood, no strings. The limbs, feet and head are connected to the body with leather connections. You hold them by a handle or rod coming out from the back of the head. The heads and hands are fashioned or sculpted from what I think might be pastry dough or a very lightweight wood. I have attempted to upload a couple of pics but can't see how to do it (Doh!) Thanks in anticipation... C

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff. You should be able to upload an image by simply going to Gallery > Your Album and then choosing Add Item under Actions.

Ok Shawn 3 pics are in the Gallery now you will see that unfortunately one of my dolls is missing a leg but that looks like a simple fix...

Thanks Chris - I am fascinated by them and wish to know more about them; that is why I am hoping that someone on the forum might recognise their construction or type...
I'm not an insomniac - 5 or 6 hour time difference...

Wikipedia has an entry for this type of puppet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jig_doll All the ones I've ever seen though have the rod coming out of the back with a static head. These are unique. Here is a video of this type of puppet in action that I found.

P.S. Yes the servers that the forum are on are in the US. Mountain time to be exact. So all your times will be off unless you set your own time zone in your profile.
