New puppet lady from Isle of Wight UK Posted by mhairimac on May 23, 2016
Hello everyone,

My name is Mhairi (it's a scottish name said like 'var-ee' )

I work within a small art centre called Ventnor Exchange, which commissions new theatre pieces and we are particularly interested in puppetry!

I have a big mission to make 4 muppet puppets/avenue Q style human-ish puppets for an adult cabaret based on a local radio station called WIRELESS (hehe get it) I only have 4 weeks !

I wanted to say hello as I have REALLY got into this process VERY recently and will be doing a lot more but I also really need a bit of help. I know it's a big topic and correct me if this is not best place to say but I was wondering in terms of patterns is it easy to work out how to change them yourself or do you think I should just buy one that I can alter the shape of/ buy different ones? My brain can't handle editing patterns at the moment I tried to and it just turned out the same every time haha

I made a test with the simple pattern other day and want to make each of the puppets with different head shapes, (one egg head, one melon, one round, etc. )

I have attached some photos of one of our polar bear from a show called Good night little bear and also my first go at a head yesterday.

Thanks!

I would say that your best bet would be to go with Project Puppet patterns since you are short on time. http://www.projectpuppet.com/ They are running a promotion right now of 15% off your first pattern if you sign up for their newsletter. They have the basic shapes you are looking for.  Have a look a their gallery and you'll see the variety of looks you can create even with the same pattern.

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff!
