3d printed puppets? Posted by barkyboy on Jul 07, 2016
So this technology looks quite promising.  Now you can 3d print your own guitars:

Apparently you can now '3d print' your own puppets. Just design them, upload them and in a few hours, you can have your own custom puppet.

Has anyone heard of this? Love to make my own through this (Hope it's not something too expensive) . . .

We have one member that has worked with this method extensively. He created a short tutorial/introduction at http://tioh.livejournal.com/104887.html  He also has a page here where he post new creations. Many of them are available to the public. http://puppetsandstuff.com/community/index.php/topic,8462.0.html

Awesome share Shawn! Yeah I enjoy these tutorials a lot. They are similar to these StudyPug tutorials I took a while ago (Math tutorials). Will definitely check it out. Cheers!

Tioh honestly is probably the best to know about this as Shawn said.

Honestly I'm thinking of making one just to see how well it ends up.

3d-printing is just another tool. It makes it easier to make several identical puppets and parts for animatronics (movable ears, eyelids,...). It's not cheap, it's not fast and most materials can break easily if they are printed too thin.

3d-printing puppet heads is like trading money for time - I can do something else while the 3d-printer prints the part. This only works with a reliable 3d-printer and well-constructed 3d-models.
