Hello fellow puppeteers and puppet makers. My name is Ryan, I live in Texas and I'm 35 years old. I've been lurking on this forum and several other puppetry sites for about 6 months now and decided it was finally time to sign up here. I grew up in the 80's on the awesomeness of Jim Henson which caused me to become obsessed with puppetry in film.
I finally got around to making my own puppets 6 months ago and that's what led me here. I've made 3 puppets so far and have the materials prepared for several more. The first two were project puppet patterns and for the third I designed a foam pattern and draped it with paper towels for the material pattern. Somehow I still haven't gotten around to taking pictures of them but maybe I'll do that soon now that I'm a member here.
A little about myself: I'm a theater trained actor, independent filmmaker, artist, dancer and indie video game designer/programmer. Odd combo I guess but I'm currently using game design as a way of making money to fund puppet films.
I'm looking forward to learning more from all the fantastic puppet makers here and eventually posting pics and videos of my own projects.

Hello Ryan!! Nice to see another Texan interested in puppets !! If you do take pictures of your creations I'd love to see them !!
What part of TX are you from? Have you been to any of the puppet theatres nearby?

I'm around an hour north of Dallas and no I haven't been to any puppet theaters. I did search for puppetry festivals in the region but sadly none turned up in my searches. It would be nice to find some kind of puppetry group in Dallas to occasionally hang out with and learn from.

Puppet Production Ministries was stationed in Desoto, Tx, but they sold their operation I believe.

Wow, great to read from you, I'm also a game developer, so I know how it is to make what you love, hope to see your puppet content and games!!!
