Thanks! Yeah, I noticed the tilted movement. I seem to have more control when using the vent opening at the back of his neck versus using my whole arm extended through the bottom. I am trying to work the set to where I can use the vent opening and support the bulk of the puppets weight on something else. As for the eye mechanism, I have a lot of practice to do with that one. This is a live hand glove puppet, and I would like to use his left arm once I get used to the weight. The cup is a good idea, planned on putting the logo on a cup to sit on the desk. Though the set is proving a bit challenging at the moment.
I think I need a lighter background.

Same lighting and what I thought was same camera distance...but must have moved something.
*edit* Realized that I had the desk pushed back further for the photoshoot. Couldn't get back there for my test video, which proved that I need a better method of raising the desk up then a kids table.

Naturally, the best look is the most uncomfortable:D. Though, that's not saying much in a closet with bright lights and little air circulation. I must be crazy to love doing this!

Looks like you are getting there! Also looks like JD is starting to develop a personality of his own.

Beautiful, there are some things.
Uncomfortable the 80% of the time unless you have a place or a set like the muppets, but... we are not that pro. LOL
I can see that the mic there is the one connected and recording, I can say that the mic is for you, not the puppet, so, make a prop for the puppet and put the real one under the desk, so your voice will sound perfect.
Do you use a monitor?, I mean... a tv screen under the desk, so you can see your self, that help a lot, also when you have guests, so you can watch the interaction and react to the guest actions. I used to use a really small tv for the camera, if it where a webcam, I put the computer under the desk so I control everything down there, and if you can´t, try to play with mirrors.
I'm not trying to bother, just give some ideas and help

Always love tips and suggestions! May not enjoy critique, but understand it lol :D With as many false starts as I have had, taking all the advice I can get
You know, I immediately regretted putting the mic up there. Did it to see how it would look on camera. The desk is an aquarium stand that I have removed the door from, so there is a perfect spot for the mic when filming. That opening also allows me to view the monitor, though moving it is a good idea to give me better vision. Or I could purchase a VGA to USB adapter and set up a second monitor.
The part that I am dreading right now, other than setting up interviews, is cutting a slit in the suit jacket to give me access to JD's hand. That jacket is perfect and I am afraid I will mess it up too much.

I agree. You could get another mic prop for DJ. The second take, the desk looks better. If you have enough space to move your camera back and bring your desk away from the curtain would help to make it less uncomfortable and less risk of moving the curtain. Good lighting and camera image...coming on well. If you put your mic below the desk you will get better audio, but you risk sounding like you are in a box. We get that a lot. so if that happens put lots of absorbent material like foam or blankets around the mike to cut he reverb of the enclosed space

Thanks for the tips I did this quick promo today after putting up a sign. For this one, the mic is closer to me and I realized that I wont be touching the curtain while filming. I do have to play with the lights a bit more, but I think its coming together. Regarding the foam, I have tons of scrap from puppet building, does that type work?
