Hi everyone!
I'm trying to make my first puppet and I want to make Trekkie Monster from Avenue Q.
I bought a 8x8x8 reticulated foam block and carved it into the shape that I thought looked pretty similar to the actual puppet

However, I just realized that the head is a bit too small for my taste. From the photos i've seen of this puppet, its actually quite large --

The carved foam block has a 7 inch mouthplate and from the pictures it seems to be much larger..

Therefore, i wanted to find a way to make a pattern that can accommodate the "snout"  so I can make a slightly larger puppet head.
So far, I've covered the carved foam in aluminum foil, taped it up with duct tape, and then cut it off and slashed it so it would lay flat. It seems to look fine from the "brain" section but I'm having A LOT of trouble with the snout part to make it "jut out"

Could anyone give me suggestions to how to create"snout" in a foam pattern? I'm really new to the whole patterning and puppet making thing so I would really appreciate some advice.
(if all fails, I'll probably just stick to this one but i really want to have a larger version)

Not entirely sure of your question, but I'll take a crack at it.
All I'm currently seeing from your post is a carved foam skull, but your actual post suggests you have made a hollow one.
If you have the pattern for the hollow head you should be able to remove the "snout" portion and add a strip of foam between the bisected portions. If I'm understanding you correctly this should give you a bit more projection.
If you are still working from the carved base you can essentially do the same thing. Slice the "snout" off, add more foam, then shave down to match.
