CRASH POPETS Posted by Dr Popet on Aug 02, 2017
Hi, I started a projects this last Saturday (my birthday) with my son and friends, I call them "Crash Popets". Rod puppets made of cardboard, I needed to make very fast puppets that my son can use for accidents, these are based on the incredible crash dummies, so they won't talk, just make sounds, that's why I did't make them a mouth, just a flexible neck.

In this first video I wanted to test the puppets and how they react to movement, try the joints and slow motion videos, these are the early models to play and experiment.

I hope you like it and I'll wait the comments

I think they are kind of fun! What did your son and friends think of them?

They are having fun, my 6 years old son is playing with them right now.

I need to start the next version and the rod (or string) system to move them on the scenes, also, they don't talk, just make sounds using the schwa ( /ǝ/ )sound, something like "Bǝ". This is because my family and friends don't do puppets and move muppet like puppets is so hard, the mouth is impossible or maybe I am to demanding, thats way these puppets doesn't have mouths, they just move head shaking the puppet and make sounds, so it's like playing with toys.

I think they are a great introduction to puppetry for folks.  Really playing with dolls, action figures and toys are the simplest form of puppetry.  I think every kid has a bit of puppeteer in them.
