Out of Curiosity Posted by Franklin on Mar 10, 2018
OK, so I know that curiosity killed the cat, but was recently in a conversation with a friend who asked this, and it never occurred to me that I never knew the answer to this.
My first training in puppetry basics was with Puppet Production Ministries out of Desoto, Texas. What happened to them?
I tried to find out and the latest info that I could find was that there were lawsuits involved, people not getting products that they paid over $700 for, foreclosure on their property, etc.

Puppets Inc sells the same style puppets from the company that is no longer Puppet Productions. I love the Innova style puppets.

Puppets Inc

"In 2009, we (puppetsinc.com) started as a DBA of Frontier Creations Incorporated. In addition to our original puppet designs Frontier Creations acquired the copyrights and exclusive manufacturing rights to the entire former Puppet Productions catalog of puppets and programming."

yeah I know about Puppets Inc. I have a link to them on the website that I am working on, but the whle conversation that led me to trying to figure out what happened to Puppet Production is because Puppet Inc sells the puppetumes (Elmer, Ralph, etc) but they don't repair. If a servo goes down, for example, they will sell you a new head, but apparently you can't send in the head to get it repaired which Puppet Productions used to do.
Interesting how quicck they pretty much just disappeared.

Sounds like an opportunity for someone who can fix servos or replace them to start up a side business. I hope they warn people when they sell them that they can't fix them. How often have you seen servos go out?
Re: Out of Curiosity Posted by Franklin on Mar 23, 2018
I only know of two times that it has happened and both times it was with the Ralph head, I guess its because they use the same servos, but the ralph mouth is bigger, thus more pressure. Replacing them used to not be much of an issue before Radio Shack closed down.

I was just lamenting yesterday how much I miss Radio Shack.

I was a total geek growing up, spent hours at New World Comics and then went to the other end of the strip mall to spend another half hour or so at radio shack.

I just met a young man who works in robotics and his wife loves puppets. I am going to tell him about the need for robotic puppet repairs.
