Need help with project puppet melonhead mouthgrip Posted by azag93 on Mar 18, 2018
Hi to all,

I just had a problem to try make a mouthgrip (Not mouthboard) for melonhead project puppet. I try few mouthplate with different mouthgrip and Im not happy with it.

What do you guys use mouthgrip for such small mouthplate like melonhead? It's drive me crazy and I done homework but no avil. Also I like to point out, why project puppet didn't provide instruction for mouthgrip on mouthplate when you buy pattern from them?

Honestly, I never saw a need for grips on the simple series patterns.  Seemed the way the foam mouth is designed lends to easy operation.  Same for the monster patterns, which are slightly enlarged.

Ah ok, that explain why no need mouthgrip on simple series patterns. What you mean Seemed the way the foam mouth is designed lends to easy operation? I use Corrugated Plastic Sheets (Known as sign board) for mouthboard and use contact cement to glue black felt on mouth and other side for your hand is fleece. The whole thing no problem and it work. I give a go without mouthgrip and see how I goes.

I do a foam mouth plate, then add cardboard, felt, and usually a fabric on the back side because I don't like touching naked foam.  The foam base made gripping easy...if that makes any sense.
