Nutty Puppets Posted by thercman on Mar 23, 2018
Hey everyone!

So I am new to puppetry and have been working on building my own with some success. In the mean time however, I would like to purchase one to use for a YouTube channel that I am working on. With that said I was wondering if anyone has purchased a puppet from Nutty Puppets. If you have purchased one what do you think? The images look pretty good but there are no close-ups etc. Thanks in advance...

Cheers,
Greg

So, Welcome.  Could you post a link to your youtube channel.  I exclusively use puppets on you tube and would like to see what your doing.  Here is my channel https://www.youtube.com/user/Patsyhoolahan/featured?disable_polymer=true

Have not purchased but they look great and move great in the videos, and the prices are awesome. They look like quality work to me.

I have not created any content yet but here is the link to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJQCZ4vKljJP4JjR_zVJf8A I am currently working on a story board for the first episode. Basically I am going to use the puppet in place of myself to discuss various DIY topics. In the first episode I will be covering the building of a 3D printer. There will be a comedic aspect to it... Such as talking about how easy they are to assemble and then cut to a scene with the puppet covered in parts or hammering on something while swearing at the printer etc.

Snail,

Yeah from what I can tell (limited old videos) they seem as though they are made well. They sit at a really nice entry level price point which is very appealing. I am planning to order one with legs so that it can be incorporated into various full body shots in order to better sell the illusion...

I haven't purchased from them, but they do look good.  Just for comparison, here are two other companies that I have worked with.  Not sure what type of puppet you are looking for, but these links will go to the people puppet pages.

I would love to have one of the Luna's Puppets. I've been following them for a while now. The quality looks great. Also, they are a local company and I like to buy local whenever possible so my next purchase will most likely be from them.

At this point however as a new puppeteer my budget is limited. I would hate to spend $600 on a puppet that sits in the corner if my YouTube venture falls flat... So I went ahead and ordered one of Nutty Puppets creations. From the pictures they seem well constructed. They also look good and seem to move well which is important when filming. (adding to the illusion) The one I ordered was the "Tennis Instructor". I was hoping to find a puppet that appeared older but this one seems to have a pleasant appearance and I can make him work. I will swap out his clothes to fit the theme of the show.

Make your own. I am just now getting my site up and running, but will soon be making more vids on making puppets, Honestly it isn't as difficult as some think. By making your own, you can give it all the personality that you want. Even if it doesn't turn out to be Luna quality, it t least gives yo something to work with until you can afford a higher quality puppet.
