Snow leopard hand puppet Posted by Tioh on Aug 14, 2018
Here's a new hand puppet build for the Eurofurence Pawpet-Show - an anthropomorphic snow leopardess.
One of my friends drew an initial sketch of her - I used it and several photos of real snow leopards as a reference to make a 3d-model of the head. The 3d-model was printed on my Anet A2 plus 3d-printer (Printed with PLA in 0.2mm layer height, 15% infill, no support material, with brim).
As usual, Plaast was used to glue the parts together, make the pins for the lower jaw and to sculpt the teeth and tongue (by hand).
I used painters tape to make a pattern for the fur on the head
The fur is from https://www.webpelzshop.de/
I cut the fur with a scapel on the backing of the fur
The body was build with foam using my standard pattern
I made a template for the fur on the body with packing paper
For attaching the hand rods to the hand I tried a new method which uses a 3d-printed connector (which can rotate the rod inside the hand)
The fur was cut and sewed together by hand
The eyes were painted by Pan Hesekiel Shiroi (http://pan-hesekiel-shiroi.de/). TaniDaReal (http://www.tanidareal.com/) airbrushed the body
I filmed the whole process - from design to the finished puppet. There are more videos to come.

I released the files for my 3d-printable snow leopard head base on Thingiverse - you can use it to make your own puppet (or costume head): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3056091
