I live in BC and I have one of the originale jesters that they made in the beginning.  I have seen and felt some of the latest models and they are beutifully done.  No detail overlooked.

Drafting Manequins are available at dickblick.com or Jerrysartarama for cheap.

there are newer  pplastic " dummies" that will allow the polymer or mache to stick.

To use a  wooden " mannequin" you must first remove the wax or finish. Use nailpolish remover and fine steel wool if varnished, use wax remover to take off the beeswax finish. Then rough up the surface with fine sandpaper. then apply your polymer.
 Baking is easy, just remember to rop open the door with something to let the water vapor escape.

I am do intrigued ot see what comes of these. I am in the rpocess of taking them apart to create molds

Ah yes, one of my favorite links that I also came across awhile back.  It was this site that boosted an interest in wood dolls for me.  Of course, mine are not as wonderful as this.  I basically use wood parts but it is definitely the inspiration behind my madness.  I have created a "whittle" shop on Etsy that sells my little wood people similar to vintage fisher price toys.  It has been quite fun in creating.  Here is the link should you want to see any of the creations I made:

I am currently making marionettes with wood parts that you can find at the craft store.  I do make some of the wood pieces found in my shop with the help of my father who is a woodworker by hobby.
