I wish I could remember Posted by Craig on Dec 07, 2006
Can anybody help me? Yesterday I saw a video on the internet of a guy playing the guitar while a stick figure puppet did a high-dirve act. Today, I cannot remember where I saw it. I checked You
Tube, but no luck. Please help.

Hey, Craig... is this the one? I have a slow Internet connection and haven't been able to finish downloading it yet, so I don't know if he does a high dive act or not, but I noticed this the other day when I was looking for another puppet clip on YouTube...

45 minutes later, and it still hasn't finished downloading completely for me, but from what I've seen so far it reminds me yet again why I love puppetry so much.
OK, it just finished downloading - I really do love it.

That was way to cool........... I noticed the audience was really getting in to the act of things. It amazes me how a inademate object such as that can be so intertaining.
This reminds me of parents that spend hundreds of dollars of toys for there youngsters for Christmas and they are more interested in the box it came in on Christmas morning.
Thanks guys

OK... how many rods on that puppet, and where were they attached? One for each arm, and one on the body? Or two on the body to get that movement? Maybe one on the back of the head, and one somewhere on the legs? One puppeteer could handle three rods, but would four be too many? Or would you just hold two loosely while manipulating the other two? I remember Jim Gamble using a foam-bodied rod puppet or two in his videos, and he actually had the main support rod rigged with a sort of pistol grip and a trigger. When he pulled the trigger it would yank on a string which controlled one of the character's arms.
I really like the uni-leg construction on this puppet in the YouTube clip...

I think there are at least two puppeteers manipulating the puppet. Looks to me that there are arm rods, waist, foot, and then neck rods. The rods for the arms/hands seem to be wood dowels and then the others look like wire.
This is truly a phenomenal piece of work. The concept is inspirational and execution precise! I would love to see more of this companies work.
I tried following the link that was showing on the video but it looks to be a portal for adult entertainment now. I would really like to know who did this. There was one comment that it is about 10 years old and a Spanish production.

OK... that makes sense. I really wondered how one puppeteer could produce that much coordinated movement in a rod puppet like that. You're right that it's an amazing piece of work.

PS
I really need to switch out monitors, so I can see what's going on in that clip a little better.
