I thought it was from later eposodes of the Ed Sullivan show. I am probably wrong, but it does have a 70's to early 80's feel to it. I am not sure when the Ed Sullivan show ended on network television.
I am a little young, maybe some of you old timers would know!! LOL

I don't have the video up in my browser right now, but from the couple of times that I watched it I got the impression that it was being performed in an intimate nightclub setting - people seated at tables with adult beverages, no children present, etc.

The Guitar Marionette is an Albanian group. The puppet has two arm rods, a foot rod and a rod at the neck. But the operator gets quite a bit of black-gloved hand help, handling the broken diving board and the ladder, etc. I've tried several times to contact them, but no results. It is quite old, apparently. I think it is mostly a single operator, however, because I can't imagine two operators getting their "you know what" together that well.
Another one you should see (too bad about the dial-ups!) is the Skeleton dancer.

Thanks for sharing the link to the site! They really do nice work. The video of the break away skeleton is wonderful. I don't think I have ever seen that trick used with such precision and ingenuity.

He is a really good puppeteer. The show with the skeleton has another piece with a puppet who makes soap bubbles, very impressive.
I saw him twice. The first time it was the first time I went to a puppet show after my childhood (Punch and Judy) It was a version of Moliere's "The miser". Instead of money, all the tale is about water. The characters are real taps, (different models for the different characters)
You can trust I saw a tap changing its expression, from happiness to sadness! That day I began to love puppetry again,15 years after my last show.
