Does anyone recognize this? Posted by Magenta on Jan 23, 2007
Hi all,
I'm new here and have a question someone may be able to help with.  I found this pattern online several years ago free for personal use.  I have used it before, but was wanting to make a puppet for a fudraising auction a my daughter's school.  I wanted to check with the designer if that would be okay and now can't find the site anywhere!  It's driving me nuts.  Does anyone know who made this freebie pattern?  I have another pattern I can use for the fundraiser, but now I'm obsessed with finding out where this thing came from! Thanks for any help.  See link for pic.

I don't recognize this particular pattern although it is similar to others I have seen.  I really doubt the creator would mind if you built one from it for a fundraiser.   If they are ok with you using it for personal use then I would imagine that making a puppet to raise money for a good cause would fall under the same category. It would be nice to know who the author of this is so hopefully someone well recognize it.

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff. I don't think I have ever seen that paticular pattern. I've seen so many they all start looking very much alike. It appears to be a basic pattern.
Perhaps Andrew, Shawn, or Ron will know. They are our resident experts. Please make your self at home and do look around and share with us.

UPDATE: Thats why I call them experts he beat me to the post.... Good Luck with your fundraiser, Let us see some pictures of your puppets made with this pattern. Did it come with instructions. Could you share with others since it has been made public domain and for personal use.

Hi Magenta,
Welcome to Puppets and Stuff
This is a great place to ask any puppet question.
I'm not familiar with it, but I bet someone here will remember it. There are many other free patterns and techniques that are available for your use. Here is a link we have here in the forum about making a complete puppet. There are many more also, just do a search on the site and read the new topics.

Thank you everyone for trying to help me solve this mystery.  I don't mind sharing the pattern since it was freely given to me.  I'll have to hook up my scanner and get the pattern back in digital format.  The picture I showed is just an overview of the pieces.  I don't happen to have the instrcutions any more.  I have no clue what became of them, but there are some basic directions on the actual pattern pieces. Maybe that would be enough to point people in the right direction.   Give me a few hours and I see if I can sort it out.  It might be tomorrow before it's all done.  My oldest daughter is home with strep throat and feeling awful.  She has got me running!

Family first...we can wait. I hope your daughter feels better.
Thank you too.

I got it finished.  I hooked up the scanner no more than three feet from where my daughter was watching cartoons, so it all worked out.  I took the time to make it pretty and cover up my chicken scratch with typing.  I have terrible handwriting and horrible spelling.  Please disregard any and all spelling errors!

Print each page at 100%.  I gave it an 1/4" overlap to help line it up.

You are the greatest..... We often have many people looking for a pattern to use when first starting out in puppetry. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. Many will benefit from your good deeds. If anyone recognizes the original author or designer of the pattern. We will make sure that recognition will be given to them.

I don't know the specific author of this, but it is very similar to an old pattern sold by Puppets For Goodness Sake and a few other similar ones that are sold by Christian puppet ministries. Perhaps someone made it up after looking at one of those.

Really, it's not much different than the "Anything Muppet" pattern that Jane Henson published in Women's Day in the 1960s. Most moving mouth patterns like this are based on Jane's pattern.
