So....I walked into my "puppet room" to find my son and dog playing tug of war with my polymer clay marionette and the scene was so graphic that I cannot show you pictures of what she looks like now.
That's scary!
I'm glad that you were able to bounce back and get a new one underway, but you need to find better hiding places - and quit using the Milk-Bone scented clay...

ah yes the wings.....that is going to be fun. I am going to use the transfer product that allows you to sew freely fibers on and then it dissolves away in water leaving behind your joined fiber piece (wing shaped).
I love the marionette - so beautiful! How did you add the hair? Did you poke threads into the clay?
Also, what's this transfer product? Is it something I might find in Australia?
Can't wait to see the finished product!

I like to think I am....HA HA HA. Yes, I do perform with my marionettes/puppets. I will add a video of the manipulation of my marionettes. Thanks for digging up this thread! :D

It is a product that you can find in most sewing shops. It is a clear transfer sheet that disolves in water. So it has the feel of like wax paper but more transparent. You then sew freely on it with like a quilter's foot attachment to your sewing machine. You place different fibers and other materials on the transfer sheet randomly and then sew randomly on top of the fibers to lock them into place on the transfer sheet. Then you soak the whole thing in water and the sheet will disolve leaving behind your fiber "mess." You then have created your own lace type "fabric." It is quite stunning and a ton of fun. Sorry that I don't have the name of the company that makes it or more detailed information on it since I threw the packaging away so long ago. The next time I go to the sewing store, I will look for it and give you more information.
Aloha,
Nikole

Thanks - that already gives me heaps of info. Next time I go material shopping I'll look out for it.
Please do post a pic when you've done it, so I can see how it turns out!
