Cool! building puppets with Jerky. Yum. Thanks for the tips and links guys. I'm going to call Tandy. I must use my foam core up first. Walmart had a sale on poster size foam core for only 50cents a sheet...but I really like the leather effect.

Have you thought of using both?    Perhaps one for upper and one for lower... hmmmm.  Also lighter weight leather can be used as the hinge with foam. Instead of just the strip for the hinge use a full piece of leather and glue your foam on to that. The leather is on the inside of the mouth that folks see and the foam is on the inside to give you "grip" on the mouth plate.  I think the possibilities are endless.

Jay - Awesome tutorial, thanks! Is the fabric-backed vinyl you mentioned also known as "oilcloth?" I know that it's not real, old-fashioned oilcloth, but I've seen some tablecloths made of fabric-backed vinyl, (or vinyl-coated fabric), which were called "oilcloth."

Billy - That's the cow that delivers our toilet paper, too!

Sonny - Foam core board for 50ยข a sheet? Holy cow! That is incredibly reasonable, (cheap).

DearMyrah - I used to visit the Tandy store a couple of miles from our house when I was studying jewelry making. I didn't use much leather but I adapted some of their tools for wax carving, etc. Now I'm miles and miles from the closest location, through Atlanta traffic.

Ron,

I hope that the cow is a mini one and the toilet paper is regular size?  If not............I think you might be a candidate for the World Record Book for having the biggest a%$.

Jay,

Thanks for the tutorial on another method of making a mouth plate.  I have it bookmarked and will give it a try once I get some of the materials together.

I have been using the "Shammie" fabric for the mouth joint reinforcment. Its sorta like a leathery like material. It's the stuff Dave Privit uses on his video for the top of the mouth hand grip. I just like it alot and use it for the joint. If I can get the leather for about the same price, I think thats the way to go.

Can we just buy a Community Cow and divy it up...we can have a BIG P&S BBQ.

Daryl - Our TP Cow is about as big as a Shih-Tzu - normal-sized rolls.

Can't you tell how small she is from the picture?

This thread is old, but I am bringing it up to mark it. Also, I have been told to try gasket rubber, but am having a hard time finding it. I went to my hardware store and they only have precut parts in the toilet section, I thought I would be able to find it on a roll somewhere.
