Pool Noodle Puppets? Posted by ymatlosz on Feb 03, 2008
Hello All,

Our puppet ministry would like to experiment with the stick-men figures made of pool noodles.  I gather that they are attached to the person's clothing.

Are there any good websites out there?

Many thanks,
Yvonne

I would start with our Puppets and Stuff members, Julie of Out of the Box Puppets has designed a neat puppet called string bean

are you wanting it to be life size?

I cannot remember how to link you to another post.
There is a string of posts about the noodle puppets under Construction>Puppet Building ...
Or do a search for "Tubie" or "Mega Noodles".

I made two puppets - - they're a lot of fun.

If you want to look up a old post you click on the magnifying glass next to the search box... This does a advance search. I just put in "pool tubes"

You might also check out the original puppets at Dave Privett's PlaySoup.com. The puppets were first conceived (I think by Joe Bruce) for an I-Fest Dream Team performance a few years back.

You are right My............ if my memory is correct Alan contacted Dave about the puppet and later took the class at I-fest ( a Birthday treat from his parents)

Thanks for the plug Billy!     Dave's puppets are great!  Actully mine are made from foam insulating tube, like you use on your pipes during the winter.  You can see the Stringbeans in action at .

Yvonne, I sent you an email with links to both types of puppets in action on youtube.

Here is a link to a tubie knock-off I made.  It requires two puppeteers to operate (one wears the tube body, the other stands behind them and operates the separate head)

The creation process was sort of touch and go, but I'd be happy to answer any construction questions about it.
