Muppet RingTone Help Posted by Puppet-Planet on Feb 11, 2008

Hey guys,

I got a new phone and the upload requirements have changed so I can no longer use my original ringtone files because they don't fit the requirement. I'm getting an error when I try to upload my Muppet Show ringtone that says:

Sample rate of wav (44100) is greater than 22050

I don't know what a sample rate is or how to adjust it. I also don't have any software, or knowledge how to use it if I did, so I can't alter the file myself.  Is there anyone that can alter my file to fit this new guideline?  I can e-mail the file to you.

Thanks!

You should be able to do it with Audacity.  Don't worry it is a free program and one pretty handy to have around when building sound effects and such for a show.   Just install the program then use File->Open to open up the ringtone in the program.  Then in the box to the left of the all the weird lines you should see a little down arrow that well open up a menu that has Set Rate at the bottom.  Change the rate then save under a new file name.  Don't overwrite the original in case you  don't get the desired affect.

If you don't want to go through all that you are welcome to email it to me and I can do it for you.

Try http://makeownringtone.com
It's a bit less complicated.

Audacity worked perfectly and quite easily... thanks Shawn!

I now have the Muppet Show theme song for my ring tone.

A "Hello, it's Kermit the frog" for my text tone

and a comical Kermit & Piggy exchange of words/arguement for my voicemail tone.

If anyone would like a copy of the files just let me know, I'm willing to share.

Thanks!
