Criticize your work Jay, NEVER!!!

Be it your website or your puppet/figures, they're the greatest. Looking at your work (and yes, I own two of his puppets) you always seem to be moving to ever higher levels.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Donald! What a nice thing to say!

I really like it, it's awesome. How did you create it? did you use a website designing package like dreamweaver or did you have an online package with a template?
Re: New Doctor Puppet Website Posted by Na on Mar 09, 2008
It's Flash. (No, I don't mean it's pretty. Flash is the program used to create the site)
Re: New Doctor Puppet Website Posted by HollyT on Mar 09, 2008
So does he design the backdrops and everything and then get flash to animate it?
Re: New Doctor Puppet Website Posted by Na on Mar 09, 2008
I don't know exactly. It depends on which page you're referring to as well - the ordering page is a Flash form, so it requires a little bit of different programming than the other pages.

Think of it this way: Flash is like a movie maker. Each page may be a different 'scene', with different components in it. One page/scene can have buttons, text, and images. Another can just have images...

Kind of hard to describe without a bit of knowledge of web design... I just taught myself a bit of flash, so even though I don't know exactly the coding behind the Dr. Puppet site, I can make a guess.

hmm I think I will play with Flash and see if I can work it out. I have found it so hard to get a nice layout for my website but one that doesn't need too much work as well.
Re: New Doctor Puppet Website Posted by Na on Mar 09, 2008
I recommend learning html or css first. The programming language for flash can be very daunting at first, especially for something as big as creating a site. I'm not a web designer, but have somewhat self-taught myself bits and pieces, and I can definitely say that learning flash is much harder. It's also more work to update.

I don't know how your web host works, but see if they have a package called 'Fantastico'. It offers a range of free website platforms that are very easy to use, and don't require a lot of web design knowledge - they're also good for those of us who don't code, and want easy and quick changes, without having to rely on someone who does.

(IMHO)
