Fundraising Puppet Auction (famous puppet builder)! Posted by Nikole H. on Mar 07, 2008
WOW.....I can't believe that I ran across an auction of puppets of one of my favorite puppet builders on the internet!!!  No, this is not an online auction.  This is a real live auction being held at a puppet theater for fundraising.  The artist is named John Blundall of Cannon Hill Puppet Theatre.  I first saw his work in the wonderful German book entitled, Die Welt Des Puppenspiels (The World of Puppets).  I was amazed to find that this auction is going to happen THIS MONTH!!!  If you are lucky to live in the UK, then you have the chance to participate in this event.  The cost to enter is only about 5 pounds ($10) and this includes a printed catalogue!!!  Man, I would pay just for the catalogue.  The puppets are so beautiful and you can view their pictures online.  Just click to see the catalogue.  You can also make an email bid.  I am thinking of doing so but I wish I could be there in person to really get the joy of placing my bid.  Wish me luck and thanks for taking a look at the artist!

Wow... what an amazing find, Nikole! Those puppets are great, I wish I could attend the auction as well. I'll definitely save copies of the photos from the online catalog though. Those are wonderful character designs.

PS
The "Wooden Eyes" site is giving me problems right now, but I was able to see a cached version of it, (minus photos) via Google...

Isn't it so inspiring???  I look at the book with his work in it DAILY!!!  No joke!  I am so awe inspired every time I turn the page.  I really enjoy looking at the woodeneyes website because the rich resources that they offer.  I love all the history that has been documented.  I can't wait to take a trip to Europe and visit the library section that he has created.  My husband laughs and says that my little collection is quickly becoming to look like his...HA HA HA.  You can see a picture of the puppet/creative arts section that he has built up in his site.  I truly hope that I will be able to have such an honored place like this, too....someday.    Now, if I can only get my paws on just one of his puppets to display with my collection, I will feel complete!!!  Here's to hoping that I can get a decent bid into one of the lots.

Good luck!

I keep my own personal collection of vintage puppets an hour away from here in Atlanta, at the Center for Puppetry Arts. They charge me six bucks every time I want to go down and look at them though...

I want one for my collection as well.  I may bid and see what happens,  there are so many that I might have a chance to afford one, even if it is just a arm. LOL

Thanks Nikole, for sharing such a great collection and auction.
