Marionette Making Tool Posted by Nikole H. on Mar 07, 2008
I have finally listed a tool that I use quite frequently.  The link that I will be posting is a listing for three lei making needles.  Yes, these long needles are intended to use to make beautiful Hawaiian flower leis.  I use them to string my styrofoam marionettes.  I had the challenge of getting a needle through balls of styrofoam so that I did not have to use eye hooks.  I just wanted a string to go in one side of the styrofoam and out the other side.  I am lucky to have access to these wonderful needles since I live in Hawaii and thought that I would share in my discovery.  I have made it easy for anyone to get a hold of their own set.  I am offering three in one set which includes one 18 inch, one 12 inch, and one 8 inch.  You can use these for a wide range of crafts as well such as beading, doll making, christmas garland making (string your own popcorn, too!)  For Christmas I will be creating a popcorn stringing kit.

I am offering the set of three long lei needles for the price of $10.  You can purchase directly from my Etsy shop or contact me through this site.  Thanks for looking and happy crafting!

Very nice offering Nikole! It can be very hard to find needles this long and your price is very good. They can sometimes be found in craft and doll stores and are called teddy bear needles.  Even at that I don't know that I have ever seen an 18 inch needle available and the 12 inch needles are rare.  I would say these are a must have for all puppet builders. While they can be handy for stringing your marionette they can be used in other styles of puppetry also.

When I saw this last night I thought they look like teddy bear needles, but then I thought they might be a little different.  I have a full set myself and I use them many times, they are very handy to have around for puppetry making.

Thanks Nikole for making these hard to find tools available to puppet artists.
