Knoggin joins Puppets And Stuff Posted by Kristi Knoggin on Mar 16, 2008
Hallo, hallo! My name is Kristi and I make felted hand puppets and other wooly creations that I showcase and sell on KnogginKnitting.etsy.com. I decided that this year was the Year of the Puppet and that I would finally immerse myself in my true passion: Puppets and all things to do with Puppets. So this means I am really trying to create an online presence for my tiny shop, Knoggin as well as locally. I have to justify owning this much craft supplies!
I answered an ad on Craigslist in January and began attending workshops each week in Toronto for TableTop/Bunraku style puppetry. I felt like a misfit bird that had finally found its colourful, silly, endearing flock! My usual anxiety attack was assuaged and I have been happily soaking up as much Puppet knowledge as I can. It has morphed into a troupe with only a few puppeteers, several puppet builders with very different puppet styles and one talented voice actress. We named ourselves Unraku, the night before our very first performance but it seems very fitting. We flew by the seat of our black pants, no monitors or mirrors, flying blind as it were. Luckily we had diligently practiced the choreography and the audience thankfully found our imperfections charming! We posted the live performance on YouTube but we are aiming to film ourselves with proper lighting and monitors , et cetera this upcoming week or two.
Look forward to exploring more of this world!
Regards,
Kristi
