Wow, you guys never cease to amaze me with the knowledge you all have. Thanks so much for all your help and advice. You have given me lots of great ideas to get me started. I will have to get shopping for some bits and pieces to start this next puppet.
Thanks for the photos Stiqman. I love your puppet, thats just the look I was thinking about.
I might try to take some photos through the build on this one and post them for you all to see the progress. I meant to do it on my last puppet (the school nurse) but I got so engrosed in actually building her that I forgot to stop and take the photos.

I made this guy with pillow piping (or maybe it was called cord?) I believe it is intended to make the edging on a decorative pillow. I'm not sure - it just looked interesting. I found it in the fabric section of Wal-mart and soaked it in tea to dye it. It has a thread mesh around it and I haven't had a problem with it fraying.
