Redying Antron Fleece? Posted by Gabriel G on Apr 04, 2008
A couple of hours ago I dyed some antron fleece using the Scarlet dye, the color looked amazing when wet and i let it soak in some extra dye since i knew it'd look lighter once dried. However now that its starting to dry, I noticed its a LOT lighter than what I wanted. So i was wondering, is it ok to dye antron fleece again even though you already dyed it?
And if I do, will there be a big chance of it pilling?

Any and all advice is appreciated!

I wish someone would post you about that, because I'd like to know. How about you try it, and post your results. Education for us all!

I am sure that you should be okay to re-dye it since you want a brighter same colour.  Did you follow the instructions on how much dye to water?  You need to be a little more precise and if you really want a bright colour then add a tad bit more dye.  Make sure the water is hot to the touch as well.  Also rinse out the piece (until it runs clear) once you finish dying it....use cold water and this will give you a good idea about the colour you will be getting plus a little lighter once it is dry.  I don't think that it will pill much , but every time you handle Antron it will always pill, no real way around it except to not handle it. LOL

I know that you can bleach Antron fleece and re-dye it after wards.  It was brought up on this site recently on how to bleach most of the colour out if you want to re-dye it in another colour.  In this case you want it to be the same colour just brighter, so no bleaching required.

I hope this helps......and makes sense...?

Update......here is the link to bleaching the colour out of Antron fleece from this forum....thanks to Dr. Puppet....http://puppetsandstuff.com/community/index.php/topic,2833.msg23828/topicseen.html#msg23828
