Update and schedule for International Puppetry Festival in Nashville, TN Posted by amybeth on Apr 07, 2008

PLEASE let me know if anyone is attending. I'm trying to schedule my shows and tickets now. I would love to meet any of you in Nashville and be your tour guide ... helping in any way I can.
[update] I've been trying to make sense of the 3 day schedule. I wish it was presented in a different way (perhaps my learning style is different). I think I'd like to see a grid format based on location and what is offered so you can cross-reference and see as many things as possible without missing or overlapping.
I suggest you purchase the advance tickets - free, but with a handling fee - if you plan on going.
Looks like Saturday is the day for 3 "workshop" type events - (1) Acting with puppets at 12:30 (2) Huber Lecture at 1:00 and (3) Adapting Literature to Puppetry at 2:30
The Nashville Shows that I've already seen are Midsummer Night's Dream - and it is highly recommended. I think that the Little Rabbit who wanted Red Wings is also a must see if you want to experience original recording and puppets from Tom Tichneor. The man who started the Nashville Puppetry Tradition. I have to say the Stonecutter is a great program - but if you are in a dilema ... Stonecutter would be my 2nd choice.
As far as locations - everything is IN the library. I am NOT SURE, but I think the "church street park" is the green, outdoor area across from the library. The courtyard is also an OUTDOOR venue, beautiful with small cafe tables and umbrellas and seating around the landscaping - possibly floor seating as well. The children's theater has a mix of built in wall seats (just a few) and floor seating (behind the rope). I have not been in the other library rooms except for art exhibits. I don't know if they will bring in seating or not ?
If anyone wants to organize the events into a word doc. let me know! I'll see what I can do, too

Reposting to see if some of you folks who haven't been around in a while might be interested in Nashville's First Festival of Puppetry.
