Acrylic clear domes (aka puppet eyes) Posted by Toon Asylum on Apr 11, 2008
Hello...
I didn't see this posted anywhere, So I thought I'd share a nice website I came across that sells acrylic domes that work great for puppet eyes.
These are what I used on my latest puppet "Fang".  I used the 2" diameter for this character. I needed something like a ping-pong ball but only larger. They come in almost any size you can imagine. They do have a small "nub"  in the center from the casting process that I needed to sand down smooth. I then spray paint mine with a white glossy paint. Then I glue a doll joint under the inside.

Nice Link! Thanks for the sharing. Excellent alternative to basic eyes.

Those are cool.  Another alternative if you like making your own eyes with this method would be to buy cheap knee high hosiery that comes out of the little plastic dome containers.  They cost 33 cents at Walmart.  I like this because:

A.  I get a cheap pair of knee high hosiery to wear (since they are cheap, I go through a lot of them...FAST!)
B.  I not only get the hosiery but the plastic container which I make a TON of things out of
C.  If I don't wear the hosiery, I get to make a puppet or doll out of it......or dye a white pair and make butterflies and bugs (tutorials for all projects coming soon on my blog once I figure out how to BLOG....hehe)

ALL FOR A LOW LOW PRICE OF 33 CENTS!!! :D

A girl really likes a great bargain.

Thanks for posting that interesting link.  I like that you create your own eyes with it.

Aloha,
Nikole

Hey:

Looks like a good part.  They remind me of the little plastic capsules that are used to put toys in for "gumball" machine displays.  They only come in one size however.
