No bad idea.  I know we keep saying this but you need to simplify things to start with. You'll be much happier with the end results.

It seems that your inspired to make a "Kate" puppet.  Go for it.  Hobbies are about doing what you really want to do.  However, if your think you have a better idea for a specific feature follow your instincts.  As to whether or not a different color would be good for the nipples.  I think it would be if you choose the right color.

I think it's time to start building.  I always start with the mouth so that I will be sure and make it so that it fits my hand.  Build the head around it.  It sounds like you've gather enough info.  Some questions will only be answered as you build.  Some questions you'll only know to ask while your building.  Be willing to make mistakes.  The foam gets covered with fabric anyway.

I think the problem is not seeing the forest for the trees.   The main expression of character is the puppets head/face.  The other details of anatomy that Rootrage2 is fixated on are superficial details.  In particular, concern about their color is unimportant since the smallest area is covered by costume in the AveQ version.

It's time to start building Rr2.  Why don't you build the head structure and send us a photo of your progress?
