Curious Kitchen T.V. Pilot Posted by Onath on Apr 21, 2008
Hey everyone,
We just finished our first T.V. Pilot. The show should be pretty good. Three of us worked on the puppet for the production I did the voice and for the puppet head and body movements along with some left hand work. My brother Chris and my puppeteer partner Stephen Bailey both did the right hand as well as both hands during complicated cooking scenes. The show is geared for children and a great script so cross your fingers everyone that the show gets picked up. Cheffy the stuffy french chef was a lot of fun to puppeteer. The show is based off of a question that kid writes in with saying "I hate eggs, But I want to make a cake. My Mom says I can't leave them out. What should I do?" So the show stems from that question with them making a cake with no eggs and having it come out awful, there is a great science section talking about what eggs do in a cake, and a solution to the problem. This was a great show with great actors and a great script. Well I will post some photos below enjoy. Besure to look at the one of the two of us crammed behind the counter. This is why you want to get along with your puppeteer partners because you will be in their armpit.
Thanks,
Jon Little
P.S. Please tell us what you think of the photos

Great idea to have a kids cooking show that answers kids questions about cooking and cooking science. The puppet looks great. I hope it gets picked up. Any chance of getting a sneak peak of the video.

I wish I could take credit for the idea Jon. The director was also the writer she contacted me about doing the puppet for the pilot. My job for the pilot was as follows. I designed the puppet, I built the puppet, I performed the puppet, and I was the puppet consultant for the script.
The director had never worked with puppets so she was not sure of the limitations. I told her the only limit is our imagination. She was amazed that we were able to cook with the puppet and even blow out candles(that was tricky)
If the show does get picked up I did some preparation to make sure I don't get left in the cold. I retained ownership of the design, pattern, and I own the puppet. This way if the pilot goes nowhere I have a great chef puppet to use and if it does go somewhere I get a piece of the pie.
Remember your time and experience is VALUABLE!!!

Jon -
Great Job!!! Seems like a really cool idea! I love the "behind the scenes" shots.
Can I ask...Is this your fulltime gig? and if so, where can I send my resume?? LOL
Hope to see more!!
