California Puppet Show Posted by amybeth on May 05, 2008
Hi - me again -
Been meaning to tell you about my trip to Mexico/San Diego. My sister invited me to tag along on a 'business trip'. Free transportation, food and hotel. All I had to do was buy a plane ticket - OF COURSE I WAS GOING!
Our last day, we went to Balboa Park in San Diego and happened upon a little puppet theater. It also HAPPENED to be close to a show time! I talked sis' into seeing the show with me. We were the only people over 3' tall (well, without kids).
The show was Princess and the Pea. All three marionette figures were rotated and performed by one puppeteer. The show was very simple and reminded me how simple something could be - the children enjoyed it. It didn't have to be elaborate. Just a guy, giving his time and talents to entertain children in a musty ole' theater. We try to make things too complicated some times, 'eh?
He was literally dripping with sweat.

We enjoyed the show. The pre-show greeting was done with this cute marionette, BoBo. He did tricks!
Sorry my show pictures didnt' turn out - I was trying to be polite and not use a flash.
More pictures from my Mexico trip - or to see the kids growing up are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/williamy/

Hi Amybeth,
Wow, that must have been nice! Too bad about your pictures though, maybe next time...
Thanks for telling us about your new puppet adventure. Always nice to read about other shows and events. Prooves that puppets are getting more and more popular once again in the main culture. Well at least i like to think so :D
Puppet hug,
