Am I correct in assuming that your first two puppets where built without patterns?  I am curious on the approach you took to figure out how to build them. I really think it would be helpful for others to read about.

Hi Luv2beamommy,

I really love your new puppet. And like you, i am just starting out and i know exactly how you are feeling. We learn so much from one project to the next, its incredible.

You really did a great job, cant wait to see what you will do next.
Keep up the great work,
Puppet hug,

Well I bought a puppet  and it was truely horrible the feel was itchy the foam was old and eyes were hot glued to his head . So I said you know what I think I could build that . So I sat down with a sheet of paper and began to draw shapes then I started cutting them out . And I just measured and cut as I went . Hand sewed what I couldnt machine . The eyes are done by making pockets for them and handsewn to her head They are still a little off I need to adjust them still . Still need to work on fingers but her arms are bendable . I liked using the fur it hides the seams better . She has foam around her lips and her head is styrafoam covered in foam then fleece for comfort and support . I hope I'm doing all this right ! I just have tried to make them with comfort and use in mind ! I cant wait to start my next one !

Well, for many of us, it usually starts that way. In my case, i just cant find puppets that are like i want them to, or at least in my price range, and i certainly cant find marionettes over here. So i decided to start doing my own. And yes, as you must have discovered by now, it is a drug and we cant stop once we started :D Which is the best feeling in the world!!!

You will see, as time goes by and as you go further down the road and add puppets in your world, you will one day look back at that first puppet and say to yourself with pride: "Hmmm, i have sure come a long way!". Its the most fun adventure ever i think!

Puppet hug,

Great job!!   I was starting out just like you not too long ago, my best advice is just keep building and have fun. You'll find with each new build you'll learn more of what works(and a lot of time what doesn't work...LOL)

I just picked up some of this funky material too for my next project...and yes it works great for hiding seams!!

Happy puppet building!!
