Re: Looking for hand control information Posted by MRHIP on May 09, 2008
Hi:

I've actually been in contact with Emily Decola.  She returned my phone message while she was meeting with someone else.  I also e-mailed her and didn't get a response.  She answered some questions about the hand controls.  Basically the large wire hoops on the end of each control rod have 2 lines attached to them.  One on the side away from the operator controls the hand and another line attached to the side of the hoop closest the operator controls the wrist or elbow (depending on the design of the puppet).  You could probably use one more line, but you would have to experiment.

I guess Emily ism pretty busy opening plays that use her puppets and doing other projects.  I may try calling her up again because I have quite a few more questions.

I also e-mailed Albrecht Roser's  company and they said that they are planning a release of a new book that describes how Roser's puppets and their controls work.  They referred me to another German company's book.

If you find out anything about the German controls, please let me know.

Hi Marty,

I also e-mailed Albrecht Roser's  company and they said that they are planning a release of a new book that describes how Roser's puppets and their controls work.  They referred me to another German company's book.

Could you please tell us in due time when it will be released? I think the whole group here could benefit from this kind of information when it will be available.

Thank you for keeping us up to date with these information. We appreciate it all.

Puppet hug,
SHould

Well, I didn't save the e-mail and as I recall they didn't give a firm date.  I think their goal is to release sometime in the next year.  If I see that it has been released I'll be sure and post the info.

I bet that if the book is not listed in this part of their website now, then it surely will when they release it.  HOW EXCITING!!!

I'm also a student, trying to learn puppateering. So if no one objects, I'd really appreciate being in the information loop on this topic!
