Hello Dolly (wood doll) Posted by Nikole H. on May 20, 2008
This is my newest little creation that I made today.  It is called a Kokeshi doll which is very popular here in Hawaii and Japan.  If you look up "Kokeshi" in images on either google or yahoo, you will se beautiful examples of this style of wood doll.  I am going to be listing her in my shop both unfinished and painted but still working out the cost (thinking around $8 to $10).  I'm always bad at pricing my items.  I'll be listing her in my Whittle World shop as that is where I keep all my wood dolls.  I really want to make stop motion animation films with her.  I'm going to take a trip to chinatown tomorrow to get inspiration with colors and eat lots of dim sum (yum yum).

Just wanted to share my joy with you all.  I'll be painting some in the next couple of days and do a show and tell.

Thanks for looking!

I visualize many possibilities with that wooden doll. Where do you get all your creative ideas. Could you possible start bottling some of the ocean water there and selling it. I'm beginning to believe it has to be in the water, air, or some tropical plant. I'll take some of each.

Love it!

PS. It helps when you are surrounded by family and friends that support you in what you do. I have noticed that your husband is very supportive of all your projects. All your work shows a group inspired effort of love.

You definitely hit the nail on the head with that one....SUPPORT.  I don't just have my husband and son but also my parents and sisters.  I even have one sister who is constantly drumming up business for me....so sweet.   The bad part of my ideas constantly coming is that THE IDEAS CONSTANTLY COME.  I don't sleep much and keep a pad of paper next to my bed so that when I do wake up with an idea, I can jot them down.  When I wake up, the ideas are not as good as I thought while half asleep.  At least by doing this, I am able to go back to sleep because before, I was keeping myself awake so that I wouldn't forget the idea.  But I tell you.....my brain NEVER stops working and come become quite tedious.  I have a VERY VERY LONG LIST of things to do that I have ideas for but there are not enough hours in the day.  I'm sure that list will grow shorter once my son starts school.  It again also helps when my husband does some of the busy work for me like cutting wood or even making calls for me with suppliers and clients.  He has even started writing alongside with me.

Thanks for the kind words because you guys are my support, too!

Anytime you want to experience Hawaii, you have a free place to stay at my home here!!!

Much Aloha,
Nikole
