Hansjurgen Fettig interview Posted by Na on May 23, 2008
Gary Friedman from Puppetrynews.com has just posted a Youtube video of him interviewing the man (I think the interview is in French though!)

Wow, impressive! That is a fantastic find Na. its incredible how such a mechanism can portray so many emotions in such a simple looking puppet. Thanks for sharing it with us.

It is done in French....what a brilliant man and one of the best books I have ever owned on puppetry.  Seeing the actual pieces that are based in the book makes it all the more inspiring.  I wonder if he is still alive?

Thanks Na for the find and sharing it also thanks Gary Friedman for sharing such a special piece from your personal collection.  If you ever get to do a workshop with Gary Friedman drop everything and go.  He is a brilliant puppeteer and is very much connected to our puppet community.  He has lots of information.  I organized one when he was traveling through our Province and it was a brilliant workshop and opened my eyes to how versatile puppetry is.

:'(  I want to cry as this is sooooooooooooooooooo beautiful.  Since Daryl telling us about his book, he has become my ultimate favorite puppet builder.  THIS is EXACTLY the kind of puppetry that moves me.  This has got to be the best video find....for me at least!  FANTASTIC AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS WITH US!!!

I'm so happy today because of this video!

Much Aloha,
Nikole

I quite agree! He seems to know everyone, and the workshop I did with him was really wonderful. We used paper, and it does open your eyes to the different expressions (whether it be actual expression of the body, or expression of emotion) that can be gotten from our materials.

He's also very funny! I saw him perform in Puppet Sports (improv. puppetry), and Gary was amazing at doing strange character voices.
