New to site and new to the art Posted by ladyreadalot on May 25, 2008
Hello all and thank you for the wonderful site.  I am a new school librarian.  This school year has been my first year working with the "littles" (K-5).  I am eager to find new ways to bring stories alive for the children and am hoping that I can learn puppetry.  I figure the summer off will give me time to get started and would love any information you can offer for beginners.  I would especially like to create fairy tale puppets.

Thanks in advance.  I look forward to learning from you.

Welcome to the family!!  You will find LOTS of good information here!  I perform in libraries to reinforce reading!  The children really respond well to puppets!  Have fun and please share pictures as you go!

Kids love puppets.  If you have any questions or just want ideas on how to get started just ask and there will be someone who has some experience that can get you going in the right direction.

Thank you for all of the warm and friendly welcomes.  I stopped by the library today and picked up books about making puppets.  Is there a type of puppet that is best for beginners?  I would love to make Little Red Riding Hood characters first since that is a story I often use with my "littles" (K-1 graders)
