UK pounds to Canadian dollars? Posted by wyohming on May 31, 2008
Just a quick question in case anyone out there knows for sure....

I'm intending to buy Noreen Youngs puppet making video. Noreen has kindly agreed to send me the DVD but I'm having problems getting the money to her as she doesn't have a paypal account. The post offices in the UK no longer to money orders to the US or Canada and a bankers draft would cost £10 on top of the DVD price! The only thing we can think of is a) to send cash or b) to send a check in UK pounds and hope she can still cash it.

Anyone got any ideas?

thanks people!

Maybe you can find someone who can buy it from her that has a paypal account.  then you could buy it from them.  Then you don't have to worry about the money transfer situation.  It might take a bit longer because of the middleman but it might be easier and safer.

Just a thought

You could write a UK cheque for Canada.  You write the amount on the cheque in Canadian amount with the CA afterwards
(eg. $20.00 CA).  Then to make sure the cheque gets interrupted at the bank then you would cut out one of the numbers at the bottom of the cheque.  Then when they fly them through a machine it will be interrupted and a human will look at the cheque and make things right manually to have it reflect the right amount.  It may take up to 10 or so days for the cheque to clear before the item is sent out to you.  I do it for US cheques and have had no problems with it.  I am sure it will work the same with UK cheques.

I hope this helps......
