Backdrop #1 Posted by Jon on Jun 05, 2008
I finished the first backdrop for the Joshua Junebug and Friends project. I had originally thought of doing the inside of the school house but then I got asked to help with a VBS program and the outdoor backdrop would be useful for that.
I was going for a coloring book kind of feel to the picture. Its about 4'X6'. I used painters canvas dropcloth and Rustoleum high gloss paint. I'm pretty happy with the result.

I tell you Jon........................ you amaze me. Your talents never end. Another great job! Did you draw it free hand or use a overhead projector.

I love the simplicity but effectiveness of the look. It is really important to have backdrops that make a point but not take over the scene, this one does it very well.
You did a great job with it all.....it seems that this was pretty new to you and you make it look so simple.
Thanks for sharing........

Thanks for all you kind words.
Billy in answer to your questions. I was surfing the web looking for inspiration for the drawing and came across a picture that was the kind of look I was wanting.
Well using this as a guide, I drew my picture on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Then I scanned the picture into my computer and projected it onto the canvas and traced the lines. After that I added paint.
The hills in the back are my attempt to capture the Berkshire Mountains in which I live.
Thanks once again
